"In case of the removal of the President from office, or of his death, resignation, or inability to discharge the powers and duties of said office, the same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by law provide for the case of removal…" (Article Two, U.S. Constitution)

Since the President takes an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”, a President who acts contrary to the Constitution or is found guilty of breaking the law should be subject to removal.

Yeah - among other things, since Obama's in and Bush is out, my Retirement investments have come back about 30%.

CAP wrote,

a President who acts contrary to the Constitution or is found guilty of breaking the law should be subject to removal.

Tell ya what Cap - you agree to war crimes and domestic spying charges/prosecution against Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice and Gonzales and I'll sit quietly and see what the deal is against Obama.

Just a simple "Yes" or "No" on this - no tap dances.

Bush was on vacation the first six months of his reign Obama has been working his ass off cleaning up the steaming pile left behind. And Obama should resign? I"m missing something. Bush decimates our country and leaves it in ruins for Obama to try and fix (which he working very hard on) and Obama should resign? Bush had 7/8 of the free world hating us and Obama is working to change that and get us back on track and respected by the rest of the world, but Obama should resign? Lord... is there a clinic or something for people like this to get rehab?

Damon,

After hearing today about BOA being extorted by Paulson and Bananke, I agree. I am sick of every dang one of them. We need to clean house in 2010. I don't care if you are Republican or Democrat, you have to be aware of what has been going on since last September by both Administration's is shredding the free market, shredding the judicial branch and certainly shredding the Constitution. Bush only used half of the TARP money and saved the other half for Obama. Bush bailed out the auto industry instead of allowing the normal Bankruptcy to take place. Now Obama has only used 5% of his stimulus package, doesn't have a plan on health care but already has the money. Has taken over the autos, the banks and now they want to say that every American has to have a pay limit? And folks wonder why the Tea Parties? This is not about one side or the other, this is about saving what this country has been for over 200 years!!!

Remove the Federal Government.

Whether one or the other president from this or that party is at the rudder is irrelevant. None of them has done nothing that didn't water down the Constitution.

We need the States Rights to prevail, so We the People can exercise influence on our State legislators. Apart from some military, police, and infra structure collaboration, shave the Federal Government down 90%, and get politics out of Washington DC, and back to the people, where it belongs.

Yeah so then we will be governed by corrupt state politicians instead of corrupt federal ones. And the good news is, it will be much less expensive for corporations to buy off state legislators than federal ones.

All you did was state the grounds for removal. You cited no 'crime' etc to merit doing so.

All you said is that Obama didn't do what everyone else didn't do.

The Republican governor of Hawaii said the birth certificate was legit and then locked it up. Sorry but you can't just demand to see anyone's personal information simply because you want to. There's been no evidence of Obama NOT being a citizen. Remember the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing? Oh wait that one is a thorn in the side to republicans; hence Gitmo.

Are you doing better now than 8 years ago?

No, because after eight years of @!$%#ing things up we now have to be responsible and once again clean up the GOPs mess.

I do however believe we will pull through this thanks to the TARP and ARRA combined.

So long as we keep the... lol... "fiscal conservatives" and the Reaganomic Conservative "free capitalist" clowns out of the way, we will continue to climb out of the dismal economic abyss that following their ill advice has gotten us into.

Listening to the whining from conservatives about the unemployment rate is a riot.

These same conservatives said we weren't in a recession, we are whiners , the economy was sound... and now that the liberals/ moderates have once again proven to be correct, the conservatives hilariously pretend that they have any clue as to the state of the economy or the consequences of economic policy .

There is absolutely NO reason to listen to these same conservatives where fiscal responsibility is concerned or dealing with the economic problems. You had your chance and, not surprisingly, screwed it up.

LOL!!!Blaming Obama for the results of GOP policies !

Give it up!

Capitalist and Alan Caruba, this is America and you have the right of free speech, but this kind of free speech is dangerous, you want the president to resign from office, i suppose you agree with Mr Alan CARUBA on everything he wrote, but where were you and Caruba when president Bush was destroying thiscountry, when he was acting like a dictator and committing war crimes, where were you when he turned his head when wall street was robbing the country blind, and at the last minute Mr Paulson went to congress and telling them to give him 780 billion dollars to keep the country afloat with no question asked, did you ask for Bush removal, did you ask for Bush removal when you and all of us found out that he lied about the war in Iraq, did you ask for his removal when you found out that he committed war crimes, but you have the right to your free speech, white is write and black get back.

It bothers me that so many people are falling for such a trap. Simplistic Reality makes money off of your comments. This seed was never meant to contribute to meaningful conversation from a different perspective. You can see these traps from time to time on Newsvine and begin to recognize those who set them. This is another one of those "Birther" articles...

If the Supreme Court can act within days to approve the sale of Chrysler to Fiat, why can it not act to hear cases filed months ago regarding whether President Obama is a “natural born” citizen of the United States? Why have some lower courts refused to hear such cases citing that the parties bringing them, citizens under the rule of the Constitution, have no “standing” to do so?

Maybe they refuse because, on the face of it, it is a stupid charge and a waste of time?

I agree where Obama was born shouldn't be an issue. Who freaking cares. What should matter is you people who were to blind to see his affiliations with known terrorists, extreme racist ministers and his total lack of political experience because you were to blinded by hate of President Bush. Grabbed the first bright shiney object that crossed your path. Now we are all going to pay, and the price is only going to get worse.

I have loved hearing in the past month democrats chant "We've hit bottom! Now its time to go up!" We've hit bottom? When did this happen? I mean as far as I can tell its still sinking. You people will still be chanting this in four years (Hopefully we will have someone in the White House who actually does know what he or she is doing!)

Obama has broken so many of his campaign promises and yet you people still praise his name. You make ignorant little comments about "Hes only been President this long! Give him a chance!" A chance to what? Lie a little more perhaps? Break a few more promises? Kiss the proverbial posteriors of our countries enemies? No thanks I'll pass.

I haven't once stated to get him out of office early, but if it were to happen I wouldn't be broken up either. It would just mean someone who actually knows what they are doing would be able to get in there and clean up this four month major mess.

You actually believe you won? Maybe you won an "election". But the country lost as a whole. Maybe if you click your heels together and squeeze your eyes reaaaaaallly reaaaaaaallly tight and keep repeating that you might actually start believing it. Unfortunately us that dwell in the land of reality, will still have to deal with this mess.

I agree where Obama was born shouldn't be an issue. Who freaking cares

Except it's a requirement that one be a US citizen to be allowed to run for office of the President...that little fact of the Constitution is very relevant and there for a reason.

I care for very valid reasons. It is his ticket out.We get them all out by revealing their complicity...follow the money trail.

Other than that, I agree with the rest of your comment.

My point is Teodoro Leon 3 that yes where as this might be an important issue. Its really a drop in the bucket compared to everything else. This man needs to be stopped period, stopped legally of course before he has a chance to destroy this country beyond repair, which quite honestly looks like that is his goal.

Third you really do not have a snowballs chance in hell to succeed legally.

Republicans have been stewing in their own BS for so long, with their noses in the neocons sitters, they don't know what fresh air is actually like. I've heard so many reasons why the GOP doesn't like Obama, and not one has any substance. It's all redundant conjecture.

So my suggestion is to sit back, take a deep breath, and try to get some perspective. There are so many new possibilities now that the neocons are almost extinct.

Third you really do not have a snowballs chance in hell to succeed legally.

Second what and how do you propose to stop him?

First didn't you forget to add a "neener, neener, neener" in there? Yes the Republicans lost the election. And America lost its freedoms and its country. So whats your point?

Thirdly. Yes there is a snowballs chance in hell of succeeding legally. One nice thing about being an American is that when Americans get sick of B.S. they put their feet down. Even those who are to idiotic and or blind to be able to see what is happening to this country, sooner or later they have to open their eyes, swallow their pride and admit their mistake in electing this disgrace to the highest office of the land.

Secondly. What do I propose to to do to stop him? I will prefer to wait until the ignorant wake up and realise their mistake. I just hope they do so before its to late, but after reading their continued dellusional idiocy in this community. Chances are destruction of this country seems to be the first priority and tragic conclusion of inevitability.

Dur dee dur okay wittle Wobbie, more koolaide? Freaking broken records. You have to love democrapic logic. This will be the same as when people got tired of democrats just as they did when Clintons second term was up...people grew tired of the greed and corruption that defines the democratic party and once again Republicans will step in and attempt to fix the B.S. you people put us deeper and deeper into. So spare me your inane rhetoric. You three who posted responses to this remind me of the three little pigs, except its three blind sheep. Pathetic.

Just=me, not a requirement for President to be born on American soil, only that he or she be an American citizen (please no birther bs). McCain was born in the canal zone in Panama which was not considered to be American soil. The only foreign soil considered to be American is an American embassy.

Actually Rob, the President must be a natural born citizen, which excludes naturalized citizens from becoming President.

Natural Born citizenship, according to current case law, the State Department, and interpretation of the 14th Amendment, is acquired by either being born within the jurisdiction of the US (jus soli), or by being born to US Citizen parent(s) (jus sanguis).

So, yes, there is a special caveat for being Pres.

But both Obama (by being born in Hawaii) and McCain (two US citizen parents) are Natural Born Citizens.

I mean as far as I can tell its still sinking. You people will still be chanting this in four years (Hopefully we will have someone in the White House who actually does know what he or she is doing!)

The NBER (the National Bureau of Economic Research) will probably declare the recession ended in April of this year.

That's not to say things won't get worse. There's a high degree of probability interest rates will go higher slowing our recovery, and it will likely be accompanied by some inflation. But these are natural side effects of spending a lot of money. The real issue is managing them once we've stabilized.

Which means pulling back spending we don't need (War in Iraq) or the 4 billion dollar POTUS Helicopter, which Bama cancelled.

Statistically speaking, initial unemployment claims is the most reliable guage of the end of a recession (likewise employment growth is the most reliable indicator of a beginning...when it turns negative, in all liklihood the economy is starting to shrink). Unemployment claims peaked around 680,000 in April.

Strange how you nazis never point out that the stock market was in a death spiral for almost a year until the election. The market peaked in october 2007 and declined until november. Since then the trend has been upward (slowly to be fair, but upward nonetheless)

Yeah, sort of like the de facto leader of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh who dropped out of college before completing his lower division work.

Here’s a question I would pose to you.

Simple: because the case has no merit.

The Supreme Court of the US doesn't have to care. And they are following the constitution. Please refer to "full faith and credit" to quell your conspiracy.

Correction Steve, they have not ruled on it, they have only dismissed the cases with hearing evidence.

I am not saying there is anything to it or that I agree but I do have to correct you on that one Friend

To clarify Linda/Steve, the Supreme Court NEVER hears cases with evidence....evidence is never admissible in appeals, only at the trial level......The Federal trial courts have dismissed this case because NO citizen has standing to bring the matter before the court - there are no "damages" that can be claimed or awarded and no injury to any party bringing suit exists, as such, the only POSSIBLE remedy the court can provide is some form of injunctive relief - a stay of the election, for example. However, since it is now JUNE and Obama IS president, any cause of action pertaining to his eligability to BECOME president must be declared moot. Without standing or ripeness, you don't get to the MERITS of a case, hence it is dismissed right away. Its basic principles of Constitutional Law like these that the proponents of the argument fail to grasp.

Of course, the entire controversy is BS and has been disproven time and again, and that the parties actually BRINGING the suit are doing it for their own ego/publicity, but, they are good at herding the sheep to flock to their cause. Still, the law is the law, the system is the system and THERE AIN'T NO "THERE" THERE!

Its because a birth certificate or certificate of live birth is considered prima facie evidence.(which obama has supplied) After the courts see that, they don't need to see anymore. I wish people would stop charging the president was born foreign. Just makes y'all look foolish.

yes, the certificate IS prima facie evidence, HOWEVER, without standing, it is never admitted to court and is irrelevant.

um......I think you missed the point....please read my comment above that explains standing. In this particular case, the Court will not view his certificate or rule on its authenticity because the people bringing suit have no right to bring it AND, the relevence of the whole thing is moot - you can't "un-elect" the President. Hence, the continued controversy is bogus, stupid and a waste of time.

"strict observance of the written law is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to the written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the ends to the means." - Thomas Jefferson

                                    Pssst...

The Congress shall have Power - To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof. - Article I, U.S. Constitution

Now, please, Mr. Constitutional law professor, explain to me in detail what has he done that's unconstitutional? Also, how did "Obama [distort] the facts of American history" in his speech?

wow, an unidentified individual making a comment that if it relevant at all would have been relevant prior to the last elections when liberals had no power but the whine, however presently owning both houses plus the presidency...not really so much whining.

However Greg, not recognising that since the election the pitiful intellectually bankrupt right have been weeping and rending their garments and decrying the death of the republic about birth certificates and teabags and continued bailouts [continued from Bushes first precedents]. That that would have passed you by is not so much ironic as simply ignorant.

Which is kinda the opposite of ironic because it's so predictable.

And what better way to do that than nominating Palin for 2012, what better candidate than one loved by the bible thumping Young World Creationist Flintstones was a documentary believing rape kit charging Reagan worshiping extreemists but hated by every one else.

it's a trap but it works both ways. When presented with repeated instances of emotionally driven, irrational, illogical, overblown bathos a couple of degree's short of a politically impotent hissy-fit. It's easy to see by who writes and who supports such sad attempts at thinking like a grown up and as such who you can safely put on ignore knowing the individuals concerned are better off kicking sandcastles over on their own while you are empowered by the ignore function not to censor but more to close the nursery door so you can focus elsewhere.

Somehow i feel like the Cleveland browns have finally won the super bowl. Now all the Cleavland fans demand that no other team should practise or play because they won.

I supported Barack Obama through the primaries and in the general election. For the first time in years, I knocked on doors, worked the phone banks, gave a lot of money, and voted early after being inspired by see Michelle Obama in my city.

Here's what I think so far - FANTASTIC JOB - I am very pleased with the job he and his cabinet are doing. I am shocked at how much he and his team have gotten done in only a few months. I don't agree with the polar bear ruling and wish that GTMO could get closed faster (something I think could have been done already if the GOP wouldn't run around screaming "the terrorists are coming the terrorists are coming" like they are going to be working at the corner WalMart for christs sake.

I am fine with the ownership of GM - again, something that could have been avoided if the GOP and some chicken Democrats would have LENT them the money they asked for to save the auto industry and potentially millions of jobs. But again, let's blame it on the unions and the workers who make one of the last decent middle class jobs you can get with no college education.

I have been more than thrilled with his (and Hillary Clinton's) work on the Middle East. I don't know what he's going to do about North Korea so will wait and see. He has put the focus back on Afganistan where it should have been all these years.

I think Geitner is a good Treasurer but then again, like Al Gore, the GOP is able to get traction with his awkward speaking ability.

I am proud of my first family, I think Michelle Obama is a beautiful representative and her girls are cute!

So my 50 cents worth - You on the right got your man and his sociopathic Vice President Cheney for the last 8 years and all of their policies and BS. Now we have a new leader who was ELECTED by a large majority. You want something different? Find a candidate that can rally the majority of Americans and win the election. For my part, I am hoping it's Palin or magic underpants Romney - could use the comedy!

GM asked for taxpayer money and got it end of story. Blaming the Unions is like blaming the rape victim and Geitner paid his taxes with penalties. BTW, I was told today by a Republican on NV that it’s good that people do not pay their taxes because it would be supporting lazy people.

Obama is the President and is the boss who over sees what is on his watch and the banks got most of that money from Bush leaving Obama with your gripes.

The point you keep missing about Geitner is he paid the T&P nothing else matters. So are you paying more in taxes now than you did under Bush?

No I am not a Union man but I also know that free enterprise is not very good for most workers not even close.

You should be blaming the unions.

Yeah the UNIONS negotiated pay packages that give the laborers millions whether they performed or not and then they got golden parachutes to boot....oh wait!

That's the upper management and the board of directors.

CEOs, COOs, CFOs and Boards of Directors = friends who vote for each others raises and compensation packages at the expense of their employees those that are actually performing the physical labor.

ROTFLMFAO!!! You have GOT to be kidding!

Oh god....not the koolaid comment...can't right wingnuts or GOP people think of something new.

First 100 days - New ethics rules, stimulus plan presented, froze pay for white house staff and aides, Repealed so called "abortion gag rule", executive order signed to close GTMO, appointed Holder as Attny General and started an end to drug war on pot, signed a statement at the UN to decrimilize homosexuality, lifted Bush's ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, revoked Bush's so called "Provider Conscience" rule, stopped using the ridiculous term 'war on terror' retired the term 'enemy combatant', went on Al Jazeera with a first speech to the Muslim World, lifted the ban on showing our dead returning heroes with the family's permission so that the nation could grieve and honor them for their service, made stricter emmission controls and put an actual scientist in charge of the EPA and made climate change a focus, ordered a full review of projects that might harm the environment overriding Bush's so called regulations, had Ken Salazar withdraw oil and gas leases that Bush had put in to place right before he left including oil and shale in Colorado, signed the equal pay for equal work law FINALLY, reversed the Bush administration order requiring federal contractors to post notice that workers can limit financial support of unions serving as their exclusive bargaining representatives, selected Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State, relaxed travel to Cuba (finally), signed stimulus package in to law, released video to people of Iran for the Persian new year, traveled and re-engaged with world leaders who Bush had alienated, made the so called "national day of prayer" a private one without fanfare, gave a major speech in Cairo that was heard around the world and is thought might be a great breakthrough for the peace process, on and on.

You don't like what he has done? Fine with me since I didn't like most of what George W Bush did in his tenure. This is the thing about Democracy - we vote and we get what the majority of people want. What the majority wanted was CHANGE and Obama - we got both.

I believe that we should take a step back and evaluate all comments made by our conservative right to include many moderate Republicans! Every comment made has suggestions of a racist undertone. I also believe our conservative right and a majority of the Republican Party are threatened by President Obama, threatened by his color, are heavily aligned with conspiracy theorists, and will resort to some type of physical violence in the near future.

If President Obama has an agenda, it's to be the best President this country has ever had. I'd also like to correct a fallacy out there...President Obama is not the first African American or Black President, he is the first multi-racial President. He represents 80% of all Americans. That figure may not be exactly correct, but the point I'm trying to make is that he represents all Black, White and Mixed Americans. At this point and time in our American history I think it's really silly, no sad, that we're still here talking about race.

As for President Obama's record. It's only a matter of time for all of his plans fall into place and that all Americans will benefit from his decisions or requests - however you want to phrase it. He's only been in office for six months and in that six months he has taken steps to re-image America with our allies and foes, did what he thought was best in turning our economy around, and has recruited enough "Czar's" to help him Quality Control our government and business practices. Has President Obama gone too far in trying to right our economy - maybe - but when you take a look at the figures, it's only a fraction of what was spent under the Bush Presidency. Sometimes you have to spend a little to fix mistakes of the past and only time will tell if those decisions were correct.

Now before anyone goes on a tangent about what the experts say...just remember experts are paid by their respective affiliation, whether it be the DNC or RNC. What do I mean by that? Simple. If you're an economist and you're a Democrat, you will support the conclusions of your base and your findings will be used to refute any figures provided by the opposing party. Another words, you're in their pocket and you'll say whatever your respective political party wants you to say because that is their core belief!

I believe the best way to understand the who, what, when, where and why, is to solicit an outside source to evaluate the overall picture, draw some conclusions and develop common ground on which we all can resolve our most pressing problems.

You obviously have a one track mind, in and out. Are you Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton?

He represents 80% of all Americans.

For those of us who don't give a crap about race, Obama doesn't represent us, because we want politicians who support and respect our home, America. Obama is a race and ethnic bigot, also having ideas polluted with his race and ethnic fixations. We see who is hung up on race and why.

Contrary to this, I would rather predict that as time gets closer to the next election, there will be calls to "suspend" the election due to the "grave challenges we face" to allow the Beloved Leader (same sycophantic following as in the East, our guy is just taller LOL) more time to continue saving us from the "inherited disaster" (if they can figure out how a shattered economy is still inherited four years from now....nah...they'll figure out how)

THAT should make you BO apologists happy, wonder how that fits in with constitutional law?

Further pressure on Mr Teleprompter's performance has to be as we continue go along the downward financial path (only thing that will wake some people up, I belive), and more and more are forced to take off the rose-colored glasses...so...no, not near enough cause to call for resignation....at least not now. Now is still honeymoon schmoozymoon time.

Off topic, but it WAS a funny story yesterday how some Israelis are upset about the photo of him with his feet on the desk, talking with Netanhahu. They say it shows the casual attitude towards them in the new administration. I don't know, feet on the desk is quintessentially American.....then again, has any other president been caught on camera with the feet up?

he was on the phone with the feet up, I was attempting a funny, maybe there is another photo of another Prez with feet on the desk.

Noncommittal as far as I'm concerned...although I cant help thinking if Bush had done it , the froth would have been about "lack of gravitas"......whatever.

Communist or Fascist......come now, I've never thought these even.

In times of war and national emergency, Washington has not hesitated. In 1917, the government seized the railroads to make sure goods, armaments and troops moved smoothly in the interests of national defense during World War I. Bondholders and stockholders were compensated, and railroads were returned to private ownership in 1920, after the war ended.

During World War II, Washington seized dozens of companies including railroads, coal mines and, briefly, the Montgomery Ward department store chain. In 1952, President Harry Truman seized 88 steel mills across the country, asserting that unyielding owners were determined to provoke an industry-wide strike that would cripple the Korean War effort. That forced nationalization did not last long, since the Supreme Court ruled the action an unconstitutional abuse of presidential power.

In banking, the U.S. government stepped in to take an 80 percent stake in the Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust in 1984. Continental Illinois failed in part because of bad oil-patch loans in Oklahoma and Texas. As one of the country's top 10 banks, Continental Illinois was deemed "too big to fail" by regulators, who feared wider turmoil in the financial markets. Continental was sold to Bank of America in 1994.

Government intervention into private business is nothing new in American history. You can allude it to socialist ideology but at the same time we've never been some pure capitalist nation that some people seem to think we have. Even that capitalist stalwart Adam Smith was in favor of a progressive tax system and social welfare. Granted the scope of the some of the efforts and programs initiated under Bush and now Obama are of historic proportions, but just as extreme circumstances were needed in times of national peril before, they were needed to prevent another depression the scale of which would be unprecedented. But maybe you'd like to see massive unemployment and crime rates, food lines down the block, and having to whore out your mom's crusty vagina to your neighbors for a pack of cigarettes just so you can feel good about your insipid principles about how awesome America is that we're not 'socialist'.

Could you people stop citing the stockmarket with figures to reflect the right and left.? I am sensitive on this subject,( it was sadly my life for many many years. Its not a worthwile effort to prove points using the Dow JOnes.

First of all the stock market is not 20pct from its lows, make that 30pct. Second of all 2 months after the inauguration it fell to 12 year lows at 6500 on March 9 which would make it lower than the low in 2008. The result of all the posts and after the rise? Nada it is back to where it was in the beginning of Jan. Ok I have had my say, I feel much better. If it makes you feel better the stock market in the U.K. did the same thing and Labour party is in power:)

How about if Bush and Cheney just go to Federal Pen for 25 years with no early release.

None of the questions asked of Mr. Obama prior to his election have been answered. Dems have chosen to gloss over as unimportant, whether as to his eligibility to serve, the screwed up acceptance to protect the Constitution, his schooling and learning experiences, where he actually was raised, yes we know he spent time in Hawaii. How much and when? Where did his money come from to go to the schools he attended? We know about everyone else in government or can find out easily. His record however, on anything is hidden.

For all that I do not trust the man and his agenda, I think putting Joe Bidden in his place would be folly. Mr. Bidden is a coniver without Mr. Obama's glib tongue. He would wreck us within two weeks. Let's hope Mr Obama serves his four years, is not reelected, and we can fix whatever he has broken.

Its too early yet to run off on a tangent either way: My reservations as to his spending will be resolved either way as time goes on. By the same token, The debt is going to be UNPRECEDENTED, with massive tax increases EVERYWHERE to pay for it.

If you are boldly saying" its all good", no worries....well, drink the Left's Kool-aid.

Let's see now.....Obama should not have become president because: he was born in the foreign country of Hawaii - thus- he is not a real American.

Obama is acting contrary to the Constitutional laws that America was founded on.

Obama uses unpatriotic mustard on his hamburger sandwich instead, of the patriotic Ketchup that real Americans use.

Yup!!.....I agree..... the evidence is overwhelming, Obama is not fit to be president. I long for those halcyon days of Bush - Cheney, those were real American leaders born in America; who respected the Constitution, and who used patriotic Ketchup on their hamburgers instead of the elitist, condiment of terrorist --- mustard --- Ugh!!!!!!!!!!

What a nightmare, Obama should RESIGN!!! and if he dosn't he should be IMPEACHED!!

No doubt the national debt is a major concern and taxes will likely go up. I think any rational person would agree, no matter what political philosophy they subscribe to. Hell, even if McCain got elected, taxes would be going up, because our national debt doubled in 8 years. But conservatives MUST take responsibility for electing representatives who didn't act fiscally responsible. Perhaps you forgot that when Clinton left office we had a budget surplus. Republicans weren't being fiscally responsible and now that they are out of power, they complain about the spending. Therefore, in my eyes, the GOP is the last entity that I would listen to about spending too much money and not paying off debt.

Correct, actually it was 6 months. Recessions are defined as two consecutive quarters (or more) of negative growth. Recessions are cyclical and are a part of the economic cycle, recent history shows that recessions typically happen about every 7-10 years. This current recession was probably due but certain actions have made it a whole lot worse than it should have been.

I'm not sure if you were adding to my post or offering a rebuttal of sorts. Recessions and budget surpluses (i.e. balanced budgets) are two very different things.
